Supported Subjects

Elementary Skills

I support elementary students in all K-6 academic subjects, including math, English language arts, science, and social studies. I also support elementary students in learning study habits and school behaviors that will set them up for success now and in the future.

Reading Skills

Becoming a strong reader is necessary for establishing a learning foundation. I work with students of all ages who need help in developing language comprehension, word recognition skills, or both.

Writing and Communication Skills

I support students of all ages in building developmentally appropriate communication skills. I provide lessons in English grammar, vocabulary, and penmanship. I help students master sentence structure, paragraph structure, and basic essay structure. I also provide support in research skills and teach students how to revise, proofread, and edit their writing.

Test Preparation

I support students preparing for standardized tests and various exams. I am particularly experienced in helping students who are preparing for the following tests:

Elementary and Middle School TCAP (I can also support similar tests from other states)
ACT English
ACT Reading
SAT Reading and Writing
ACT Science

Scheduling Options

1 / In-Person Sessions for Individual Students

These are booked as half-hour or one-hour sessions. When you book a session for an individual student, the time block you choose is set aside for that student. Generally, five to ten minutes are used at the beginning and/or end of the time block to discuss goals, assignments, and progress with the student and parents. The remainder of the time is spent working directly with the student.

Sessions will take place at a mutually convenient location. I can conduct sessions at my home in Alamo or meet you at another location. I can also come to your home. Please note that a travel fee does apply for meetings outside of Alamo.

2 / In-Person Sessions for Small Groups

These are booked as one-hour sessions.

A group may consist of 2 to 5 students. The students in the group must be studying the same material, unless they are siblings from the same household. The session fee increases by $10 for each student added.

3 / Online Sessions for Individual Students or Small Groups

I can conduct online sessions using videoconferencing software. You may choose to schedule all of your sessions online or use this option as a replacement for a scheduled in-person meeting (e.g., if transportation problems arise).

Meeting Locations

I can conduct sessions in my home's study or meet you at another location within the town of Alamo. I can also come to your home. If you live within 5 miles of Alamo city limits, there is no travel fee. Please note that for travel farther outside of Alamo, a travel fee will be added to your session price.

There is a $10 flat fee for travel 5-10 miles outside of Alamo.
For travel farther than 10 miles, the fee is calculated at a rate of $1 per mile.

I use Zoom to conduct most online sessions. If you would like to meet online, I recommend downloading Zoom's free software.

How to Sign Up

To get started with tutoring, please send me a message and let me know the following information:

The age and/or grade level(s) of your student(s)
The areas in which you are seeking support
Your preferred contact method (email is default)
Any other details you would like to share about your student's needs

Reserving Sessions

After your first session, you will have the option to use my booking page to set up recurring sessions.
In order to reserve a session, part of your session fee will be due at the time of booking. The remainder can be paid in advance or on the day of your session.

Overview of Session Fees

The rate for a one-hour session with one student is $35.
The fee increases by $10 for each additional student.
A travel fee applies for sessions that take place outside of Alamo.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel a reserved session, any amount paid towards your session fee will be credited for your next session if you cancel with at least 48 hours notice. (Please note, this does not apply to packages.)
More than two consecutive cancellations may result in your preferred time becoming unavailable.
